The other option with an adjustable ridgeline is the UCR - it uses much less rope to achieve the same thing as the large whoopie.
You dont need one, but i would highly reccommend it. If you get one, get a fixed ridgeline. It does everything and more.
There is no magic formula for a ridge line. Right now you need to be spending as much time in your hammock as you can to find out just how you are going to sleep in it. If you make it adjustable fine if not then make sure you get the right length so you are comfortable and can sleep well.

I like one, removable is always a good idea... All of mine are just looped over on the ends or larksheaded onto the end depending on what I felt like doing at the time, so they are not permenant and adjustments can be made... I see no downfall other than the grams added... Start at 82-83% and play from there...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...
