Got my Tadpole External pole mod from Marty . . .

This works perfectly and opens the roofline up nicely! I pitched the tadpole in porch mode and still got benefit. Just left the connector on the side pulls when I packed the tarp back up ... Never gonna need stakes and cordage again ... Thanks to the set. I was also really thrilled that the set weighs nothing and because the pole set is 4 sections, it fits right in the bag with the tarp.

So,

I had my Tadpole pitched in a *******ized porch mode and still had the door kit on to protect me from the cool wind blowing in from the foot end . As I stated, these aren't great pics, but this pole mod really opens the roofline up quite a bit, removes the need for additional cordage and stakes and weighs nearly nothing.

The kit comes with a 4-piece nanolite pole (shock corded together) and two quick attach adapters.

1. click the adapters on to the loop of your side pull(s) and then slide a notched end of the nanolite pole into each grommet...Done!

For the door kit, did the cordage come with it to attach to the center pulls? I haven't had a chance to take mine out of the bag yet.

Would you ever use the pole mod in full storm mode?
Tarp RL down close to hammock RL, Steep pitch both sides, doors closed in prep for a heavy rain.

Would love to see that some time.

Yep--- for example, if you put the doors on the foot end, there are some toggles that go through the top loop (where ridge line(s) are attached) and each of the corner guy-out loops on that same side. Then, there are mitten hooks on long bungie cord which connect to the opposite end of the tarp. Simply stretch and clip on the far end. Easy . . .easy . . .easy

I suppose if I was expecting a storm, the most bullet-proof way to pitch would be ridge-line low and side pulls staked rather than pole mod. I might consider this only because it might allow me to use the side-pulls -- not so much for adding space under the tarp, but more just to ensure (expecting the storm of the century) that the tarp was fastened to the ground at two more points.

That being said, I would have to do a test pitch or two to verify, but if memory serves, because the pulls are located more towards the top, you can get a steep pitch angle on the sides without worrying about over stressing the pole or pulls. It would have to be a forecasted barn buster before I'd really worry about it.
