market value should be based on what someone is willing to pay for the item. Not on how cheap someone else was able to snag it up for from someone. The individual can always look up the cost of the item brand new and compare it to the listed price.
I think it could be considered tacky to leave the price up. Old fashion idea yes, but I see where some people might feel that way.
Also if you are buying something to give as a gift to someone who may read the "For Sale" section a person might not want the purchase price listed.
The biggie is: A few of us over spend, we do not want our spouse, housemate, kids, parents or the dog knowing how much we just spent for some tempting item. I remove the selling price when I sell something. It just seems like the thing to do. I research before I purchase, I find lots to compare even when some Sellers remove the purchase price after something sells. I think we should have the choice to do things either way we want. Two of my family members are HF member's if I buy something I do not want them to know what I paid.
Instead of having a rule for the seller to keep the price posted, why not change it so the buyer has to say I'll take it for x and leave it in the post? That gives them proof in case of any disputes
I don't see much incentive for the seller to change behavior.

There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
No rule change on this one, the seller can choose to keep the price listed or remove.
