There really is quite a bit to learn & remember. Besides learning to recognize trees that are 2' in diameter (or 4' diameter if I bring two sets of tree straps to daisy chain) and 12' to 25' apart (both can be a challenge in Pacific Northwest USA ancient forests), 30° suspension angle, structural. ridgeline is 83% of total hammock length, foot end several inches higher than head... other things to consider include
    1. Light wind/steady breeze? Find two trees the right distance apart to hang sideways to prevailing wind.
    2. Higher winds? Find two trees the right distance apart to hang foot end into the wind, rig (Clark) tarp in full or semi cocoon mode?
    3. Nice view for porch mode? Orient the head of the hammock so the sleeping bag zipper is on the open porch side for easy ingress & egress.

Your pack in that photo looks familiar. Is that a WFS Mt Blanc #238?

Hanging in Sweden, the morning dew is more often than not enough to make it look like it rained during the night. My motorbike always has a full layer of droplets on it in the morning there. If you get up early enough before the sun has burned it off, you will see the mist hovering over the grounds up to about knee height. If it rained the night before, chances are you won't see the ground att all through it.

My countermeasure was to buy a UQP. So far I haven't been able to deploy it in those conditions (as I live abroad and only visit home every so often), but I think it would do a lot of good. Like the Norwegian scenario though, you'll just have to suck some of it up I think.

Oh my! I have no idea.
I think it's a no name brand external frame from a store like KMart.
It was all I could afford fresh out of college. I was 23.
Jan Sport, The North Face, Wilderness Experience were the big names in packs back then and I could not afford any of them.

I was with the scouts one week ago on the AT in MD and spent the night in a cloud with blowing mist.I have a WBBB ,but opted for my edge tarp instead of the superfly.Despite the lack of coverage I stayed dry.I noticed that the netting on the WBBB caught the mist and kept it off of me.My HG under quilt was not wet either, just slightly damp on the outside. The beauty of the WBBB is ,some of the things I dislike, (slightly confining)are the same things I like. The coverage of the hammock helps keep the weather off too.
