    Second hammock for gear storage?

When bicycle touring/camping(or any type of camping really) does anyone ever carry a second, cheap hammock to string up for gear storage? I use a WBRR and am thinking about carrying a light hammock such as an ENO SN to string up near my RR and put my panniers and other gear in to keep them off the ground.

Sure thing. Check out Just Jeff's website, he's the designer. I think JRB makes em, and the DIY directions are on both HF and Jeff's site as well.

I think it's definitely worth doing. I bring a second hammock on canoe trips when weight is not a consideration. Not only is it good for gear but as a chair at camp or to bring on hikes from camp. I imagine for you it would be handy to bring out for rest stops and such or for a day hike when you aren't bringing all your gear.

I looked at the link and that's what I'm thinking of but it says it is big enough to hold all but the biggest backpack. That doesn't sound like it would hold all my panniers and gear.

Not a full hammock, but I have used ENO's "Underbelly" gear sling. It might not hold all of your gear depending on how much you bring, but does hold the stuff you'd either want easy access to during the night or particularly want to keep off the ground.

Thanks, the Gear Sling might be what I am looking for. I normally carry 20 to 40 lbs of gear on my bike so it would be a tight fit with four panniers and a handlebar bag but I think it might work.

When pulking (snow sled) I have carried a $9.95 fishnet hammock to put gear in.

You could make a tree slings to hang your panniers to a tree. It's just a spare tree strap with biner.

See fishnet hammock to right of main hammock.
