Finally. Grandfather Mountain hike Aug 13.

Well after 3 months we finally got this video together of the second day of our GFM hike. From mile high bridge to whenever the camera died. I am the one with the orange backpack and blue hat. Thanks to Dave (Shutter304) for making this video. Enjoy all.

A couple things, what an incredible hike!! Man it's crazy how trees can grow out of the rocks like that! I really would have liked to see the views on a clear day. Looked like a total blast though!! Also, was really liking the music, especially the Wishbone Ash, good tune!!

    Thanks for sharing - Heisenberg

Cool video. I showed it to my son and now he wants us to plan a trip. Are there many campsites along the trail?
Aim for the moon, if you miss, at least you will still be among the stars.

    Great video and trip!
    What was your intinerary?
    Looked like typical GFM weather.
Both times I've tried to get to McRae they closed the trail due to the wind.

Looked like a brutal but fun hike. More fun when you have a view.

Yes the first day was clear. The video was taken on day two when the rain was coming in. Thanks for checking it out.

Yes very treacherous, supposed to be the most strenuous hike in the southeast. I believe it. I would highly recommend some rock climbing experience.

Here is the park map. I am sure the conditions change at the campgrounds up on the mountain. We stayed at Calloway Gap. Had a few places to hang and some wooden platforms for tents. Alpine Meadow was the only campground with no trees.
