    TX-150 pole lengths

So I am new to the whole hammock thing and while I initially was looking at an Exped Ergo, for about the same price I can get the Clark TX-150 with weather shield. One concern with the Clark TX-150 I have is with the fiberglass poles. From this forum I understand Clark recently upgraded their poles, but prior experience with fiberglass poles leaves me wary of them (that and weight). Has anyone used other poles and if so what kind? What are the length of the poles?

    Thanks.

I have the original poles but I don't think the new ones vary greatly.
The rods are each made up of 3 sections - when joined together they are 51 1/4" long. The two rods weigh about 3 ounces.
I have read reports of breaking the rods and I have broke fiberglass rods that came with very cheap equipment but these seem of good quality to me.
These make a good replacement or backup set. (thanks DemostiX)

Not sure what you are asking. The stock poles weigh 3 oz. the Harbor Freight poles are also 3 oz. To me, the poles are a great feature and well worth the weight.

Harbor Freight rods are a bit heavier, due to the brass couplings. You want about 51-52" total. That's 3 of Clark's 17", or 4 Harbor Freight 13" or a 39" HF + a 13" HF.

I'm sure hollow tubes, maybe graphite or fiberglass and used for kite struts would be lighter. I have not tried to source them. If I happened on a kite-store and the price were right, what with no shipping or sales tax in Oregon, I'll make up a kit.

But, I haven't broken a Clark rod in over 400 nights of use.

Thanks for your input DemostiX, 400 nights of use is very impressive.
