    The Things People Throw Away....

So a couple of weeks ago someone had a nice looking green hammock stand setting out on the curb, ready for the garbage collector. I went up and looked at it and it was in pristine condition. It wouldn't fit in the back of my truck because of my camper top so I had to drag it almost an entire block back to my house. If the neighbors didn't think I was crazy before....

I set it up in the back corner of my yard. Looks so nice with my TTTM. It's my wife's new favorite spot to get some sun in the mornings and the area becomes nice an shaded in the mid afternoon. I've also spent 2 nights in the back yard as well as several naps and lounging sessions. My WiFi signal also reaches so I can browse HF with my iPod Touch or my new netbook. I can't wait until those Honeysuckle vines start blooming.

What a find, I'm so jealous!

There was a tent on the side of the road a couple of nights ago. Not at the end of someone's driveway, just on the side of the road. My arms were full of groceries, and I never made it back to check out. -kicks self- I'm sure that I missed out on a great find. *sigh*

It looks to me like with the proper persuasion and lack of planning, the straps/ropes of a hammock might slide down the sides of the poles. Perhaps the person who threw it away was paying medical bills for a busted tailbone?

There are holes in each end of the stand where metal hooks would go. The hooks were missing but I finally found a use for the webbing that came with my DD hammock. The wrap I used keeps the webbing from sliding down the poles. I will get some hooks in the near future so setup and take down will be easier.

Froldt, why would you think that a tent qualified as a "great find"? Aren't those contradictory?

I picked up a Dell Mini 10.1. It's actually for my wife but I'm gonna play around with a WinXP/OS X/Linux(Ubuntu) multi-boot system.

Oh no, a tent is a great find, as a materials resource: nylon for stuff sacks or even a hammock, netting for stuff sacks & things. That "breathable" material they put in the tops is great for making the top part of a hammock sock. Shock cord, etc.

My only good camping find was a 3/4 length T-Rest along NOBO I-71.
My cats sleep on it now.

Hey that's my hammock stand and it wasn't being thrown away, I like to set up by the street. Sometimes the trashman takes a nap in it. I want it back, but I moved to PA so you will have to send it there.

The poles ore the best part of a discarded tent.

Sure. I'll just send it COD freight.
