Earlier this year I did a hang in northern MI and about froze my butt off because:
    1) I was not prepared for 40F weather
    2) I had not tested out my gear last winter properly
    3) Got caught hanging in a spot that allowed the wind to directly blow through my tarp

My goal this winter to make sure that none of the above happen again. That is why I am moving slowly to establish base lines without weather impacts then I will move outside to establish base lines with weather. I suspect I will have to beef up my gear before I spend too much time outside but we will see.

Yep your fault and you are the most at fault of the bunch! If I had not found your videos on You tube I would be happily and stupidly moving along on the ground but oh no! Instead I am swinging from the trees and talking a new language

    I will accept the blame….
Have you tried an UQ Protector? Helps a ton with wind and adds a bit of warmth.

Not yet but I do believe that Santa is going bring me one along with a couple of Griz Beaks and JRB Old Rag TQ. At least I wrote Santa and ask for all that.

I love reading about tests like this. It's just fun isn't it?

I have a few suggestions you might try.
29F with a full UQ rated at 20 has me wondering if it is tight enough under you?

While laying in your normal sleeping position can you reach between your hammock and UQ to see if there is an air gap? If so I'd tighten the suspension.

While laying in the hammock can you have someone look at the ends of the hammock to UQ and see if they are sealed or touching, no air gap.

On clothing to sleep in. I don't know what a UA hat is.
Do you have a down jacket with a hood? If so try that with your hat it will keep you head and shoulder much warmer.

And last gloves? I use smartwool glove liners to sleepin and they are great.

Keeping your hands feet and head warm should really help your overall body warmth.

Thanks for your suggestions. UA is a Under Armor. Mine is a cold weather beanie. I will have someone check out the gapping tonight as I have the HH Classic with no zippers (yet).

Add another water bottle? Your at home, can't hurt?
PL's over the rl add a good bit of warmth. Leave room for ventilation. Even a poncho traps some heat.

Maybe a personal thing, but I get cold sleeping in my down jacket. I was cold last January and couldn't figure it out?? Finally took off my coat and then I was fine. The compressed down seemed to be wicking the heat off me and the uq.
I know lots of folks sleep in a down jacket. So, its just a thought...
    Ambulo tua ambulo.
