a thermometer that logs temp can be a huge help when testing gear.

    Temps: below 32, down to 10-15 F (-10 Celsius)

    Gear:
    Dream Hammock Thunderbird with overcover
Edge Tarp (mostly u necessary, clear and bright nights)
UQ: Yetti 3 season with 1oz overfill
TQ: Enlightened Equipment Revelation X 20F (3 season)

Thanks to advice from ultimatehang.com I basically, pushed 3 season gear to winter use with GoLite Down Jacket and Western Mountaineering Flash Pants.

Still, after several nights with not a single one slept comfortably (not because coldness) but the hammock nature of sleep position, now I know that hammocks are not for everybody (unfortunately)...
I wiktor, I see you are from Parker. I am just up the road from you. I live next to Chatfield Res.
I'd be happy to get together with you and help with your setup the next time you are back on this side of the divide.

Not for everyone, but $8 solves a lot of issues for more than a few folks, and keeps moisture out of your footbox or down booties to keep it fully lofted on long trips. Sometimes I don't even use any other socks, just these and the TQ footbox, depending on temps of course.

Also, if you just can't get comfy, I would also say to not give up without trying a bridge hammock, which are also very easy to insulate. But some folks even though it feels great to lay in a hammock, can never ( or it takes a long time to) get used to being up in the air. Plus, for me, the whole sleeping in the back yard thing is usually a fiasco, so much so that it is nearly impossible to make myself do it. A nap or reading is fun, but sleeping at night is a different story. Never had a problem on the trail though, best sleeps of my life, in a hammock. I'm sure exhaustion helps!
