In addition let me suggest you do your first winter hang in your back yard. Winter can have it's problems... ;-)

northermark makes a good point...practice once or twice before heading out.

This cannot be said enough. Practice at home or close to home(adjust distance for weather) if you need to bail.

Last 2 nights, I've been in the backyard. First night 65* and last night 59*. Not cold, but trying new DIY equipment. Wed night is expected at 44*. Too cold for experimenting if out in woods so I do so in backyard.

Good luck in finding your hanging buds. Or, you can take ground dwellers with you. Eventually, they will want to try it out, also.

Either way, just getting out is what it's all about.

I did my first hang in my backyard before taking it out into the woods and plan to do the same before a winter hang. Probably sometime in January (once I get an UQ et al).
