    WBRR DIY Underquilt

I keep going back and forth with myself, whether I should buy an underquilt or make my own. I have pretty much settled on making it, but still have a couple questions. This will be for my WBRR.

I get and understand the differential cut. And I will be doing this with 5oz Climashield.

I also understand the somewhat hourglass shape to a bridge hammock UQ.

    So...

Underquilts for gathered end hammocks that are cinched up around the hammock, but as the bridge hammocks lay flatter, those adjustment channels do not seem to be necessary.

The UQ is attached at the four corners to the hammock and any necessary tightening or loosening can be accomplished there.

Am I flawed on these assumptions?

You pretty much have it, a well designed UQ for a bridge should not need shock-cord at the ends. But if I were building one, I would probably put a channel in the end so if I miscalculated in my design, I could compensate with shock-cord.

Suggest you check cpverne's threads out, you may get some good ideas.

FWIW... you will not find a better fitted and sculpted UQ then the Lynx UQ and it has heavy duty but short "rubber bands" at the foot end to allow it to give a bit as the hammock stretches slightly when loaded and the Ridge Creek UQ has shock cord on the foot end.
