Video: Pate Hollow Trail w new gear

hey everyone, i did the pate hollow trail on a quick overnighter and heres a video, the trail is nice easy to follow despite the the lack of blazes. Some ups and downs but nothing too big, Had a great time, and tested and used some new gear. I must say that the ribz pack (thanks silver surfer) worked great! as well as the hot water bottle trick..anyways on to more rambling...

Looks like you had a good time even if it was just one night out! Good to get out and away from everything! Thanks for sharing! I think I need to sneak off for a night in the woods soon!

Nice looking place to set up camp. Lots of new toys to play with too - very exciting! Yes, very nice view from the hammock. Weather shields/under quilt protectors are good for stopping the wind from cooling the under quilt. It looked and sounded to be a very worth while gear tuning overnighter. Thanks for the video, moutainhanger!

I for one just want to say I enjoyed the video ALOT. The honesty was great. I have been working behind a desk for years and the last time I was out reaching for air as you climb those hills tells you OMG I need to get out more. I love it because you have a GOAL! great exercise. Going to a gym and running behind glass just does not seem like much fun. I use to weight 280lbs Now I am at 250lbs.

Waiting on some gear to come in myself before I head out again. You are correct organize that pack is important and remember where it all it is. last time I was out I thought I forgot my headlamp. When I got home I found it in the pack in a small pocket man oh man I could of kicked myself.

    Did you find your music?

Keep the vids coming man I loved every bit of it.

Hey MH; Looks like you have the essentials and just need to tweek things to work better for you. You'll find the 2QZQ UQP will help keep the wind off and hold a little heat in as well. I didn't notice if you had a ridge line organizer. I find them essential to my hang. I made one out of noseeum and about 10x7" with two compartments. Helps to keep things where you want them. I also have a tinder bag with me of birch bark and jute, that way i can get the stove going very quickly and not have to expend allot of energy. I started hiking again because of HBP. At first the steep mts behind my place made me feel like i was going to have a heart attack. After a while my cardio got better and i learned to pace better and things are much better at 62 than they were in my fifties. Hang in there

Nice trek. Thanks for taking us with you.

The HNF takes on a whole different personality once the temps drop below freezing. Looks like you got a nice chunk of it on the PHT.

Good work! I keep telling my wife the key to keeping her keys....and other stuff, is just designating a place for everything and being conscious of that, even vigilant, when putting things away. Of course she thinks I am crazy Who has the time for that?

Each time you deploy or pack up, it will get easier, you get better at it. And the better you get at it, the less it cuts into personal lollygagging time.

    Hi MtnHanger,
    Really enjoyed your TR video.
Lots of lessons learned and I think you are on the right track.
Everytime you go it will get better and easier once you get a system down.
Looking forward to your next TR.

    Nice view from the hammy.
Getting out into the woods is always a learning experience and I think part of the fun is finding new ways to do things out there. I'm glad the filter is working out well for you and I always loved having that sitting there in camp to tap off of.
    Take care dude,
