But hey, it was still better than a good day at work- right? I was stuck in town-on call that weekend. Wish I could have been there.

Stick one of those mylar emergency blankets in your pack and never take it out unless you need it. Back when I used my first DIY UQ, (an old synthetic bag cut-down and strung up under my hammock) I would use one to add warmth by stringing it up under my UQ.

That was a nice campsite: was it near Fall Creek Falls?

Squid, from the Sipsey trailhead parking area .. take trail 200 north to where there is a sharp bend in the creek and it's just east of there at the top of the hill.

Gotcha, I thought it was near there. If you look at this map:http://www.sipseywilderness.org/maps/200.pdf Fall Creek Falls is about another half mile, up 209.

Glad you guys had a good trip. Sux forgetting stuff, but glad you roughed it out. I gotta get up there one day to the Sipsey.

The Sipsey is one of our favorite places. The nice thing about Sipsey is that there are many campsites, but that one looks real nice. I like your camo cuben, mine is on order.

Roger all, I will soon be only 1.5 hours from there (moving to Huntsville). And...I bet you like the Camo Cuben tarp!

Interesting trip but you made it though it. Bushbuddy/fancy feast is my go to combo for the past 3 years.

I watched this video on YouTube last week and wondered if yall were on HF. I'm planning a Sipsey hang with my outdoor buddy for the weekend of Jan. 25th. It'll be our 4th trip over there. Awesome place. Would be a good location for a HF group hang this spring.

I believe I saw this method mentioned in an issue of Backpacker. Seems like a bulletproof form of tinder.

So are good camping spots and all of the waterfalls pretty easy to find along the hike? When I go I will be taking my 10 year old so I just wanted to be prepared for what it will be like.

By the way, my plan would be to start from Thompson trailhead and take the 206 to 209 route. I am just wondering what I would need to know and what sights I want to make sure and check out with my 10-year-old.
