Droopy Hammock

I'm talking about droopy sides. I know the Knotty mod is supposed to address this but what's the cause and is there a no-mod solution?

I've got the hammock rigged up with a zip tie whipping with the CL larks headed on and coming up through the ends.

Too wide maybe? That said I never like my WB Traveler for that reason. Only the WL snipe which has the knotty mod on each end has been acceptable to me.
All my other hammocks have nets or top covers.

Usually it's excess width. None of my hammocks are bigger than 60" wide so I've never experienced it (5'11" height). ENO Doublenest users commonly complain about the fabric flopping in their face.

If you're a shorter person, you may get fabric flopping in your face even with a 55" hammock. Maybe less width would solve the issue?

Well, it started off as 60" wide but after rolled hems I'm probably looking at about ~58-59" now.

And I'm not really having an issue with excess fabric falling in my face, that'd be a problem with my Yukon Double. This one just has no cradle effect. It almost lays too flat that my TQ is always at risk of falling out.

This is why the Knotty mod became so popular with open (no bugnet) hammocks. Everyones quilts were falling out when you'd get out of the hammock.

I've noticed your green hammock models this method. Is the lay different than a gathered end with a channel?

I use a Trek Light double which is REALLY wide......78 inches. I do get the floppy sides at my head and feet. I can practically wrap myself up like a peapod in the thing. I end up tossing the excess fabric over the side suspension on my HG Incubator, but it often will flop back over onto my feet. I don't really feel like my TQ will escape though. I've tried several other brands/styles of hammock and keep coming back to the TLD for comfort. I may try some sort of clip to fasten the hammock more securely to the UQ suspension lines. I was going to try Dutch quilt clips but that didn't work very well with all the excess fabric. I like my hammock well enough to put up with the floppy fabric thing.
