It's just a big plastic 2-ml bag. Not breathable. I would not use it.

Your problems will be condensation and respiration. You will need to vent it but it will still collect water in the bottom. ;-)

The thought of 'experimenting' with a bag around my hammock is just terrifying.

big 2 mil bag? cut to the quick and don't call it the Steelsuit.
    Call it a body bag.

Just make sure you can get fresh air in there and be safe.

    More disaster than destruction)))))))
Truly…make sure all your gear and rig are good to go by getting out and testing extensively. Something like the MN Frozen Butt Hang will be a miserable experience if your kit is not up to some very harsh extremes. Hate to see anyone suffer due to sub 0º temps. These kind of cold temps need to be eased into in my opinion. Socks can soak your gear if not used properly and tested. I know because I have been there.
Just want you to have a good experience all around in hanging in the hammock. Group Hangs will continue to happen so please don't rush it.
Carry forth and get out and test and test.
