    Superfly interior short pole mod

If someone could try sewing small pole pockets on then inside of the tie outs on the Superfly, the short poles could be put on the inside through a couple loops in a ridge line. Then there would be no downward pressure on the tarp. Snow might shed better and the poles could be put up from the inside in bad weather and there would be no reaching across the top to put in the poles.

You'd need some really flexible poles. The nanolight poles I got from that tent pole site isn't flexible enough to do it. Especially in the cold, they might snap trying to bend them that much.

    WLB,

2QZQ offers Tarp Pole Mods for that very purpose. For the price, you can't beat having Donna do a professional job. They even tell you which poles are recommended. The Link to the Tarp/Pole Mod section of their webpage is:

Also, if you go to YouTube you can check out an interesting version of pole placement by Waw Hiker as he shows how to rig the SuperFly with tent poles with no mods required at all.

Angled sections at the top would solve that. Quest has them with 3 different angles.

I am thinking short poles from tie out to tie out , not fron edge to edge. 2qzq certainly should be able to do the mod work. I am thinking Brandon could just add a small pocket on the inside o the pull outs when he makes the tarp and it would be ready to go. Prob just adding a small piece of material without much additional sewing. If I didn't already have one I would ask him to try.
Just add poles and a ridge line with a couple loops, like the ones in his tarp hanging video, tied in to hold the poles in place at the peak. The angled pole joints might be necessary if there is too much bend in the shorter distance

The rei poles open up the tarp a lot but if you could just snap in two short ones from underneath in the rain you would add convenience and drop a little pack weight and bulk

I'm thinking these on the inside instead of outside like I used them.

gmcttr your pole mod is much cleaner looking compared to the REI dome pole idea. I really like your setup. Good Job.

OP, gmcttr's external pole mod might be adaptable to your idea of going on the inside. You'd just need the pockets sewn on the pullout patch and cut the poles to fit. Having a 45 and 90 degree angle piece for the poles would give you many pitch options.

With a 90 degree angle piece you would get a nice steep angle to shed snow and the poles will keep the tarp from bowing in with snow on it.

Kind of like this but the poles would stop at the pullouts.

Those angled sections would be the ticket, forgot all about them. Check that quest outfitter site, got my pole with shipping for under $30. They have a much greater choice than rei.
