I'm hope I can go on a trip like this one day. I'm just getting into the expense of backpacking gear and hammock hanging. I shudder to think of the expenses for paddling.

    What an Adventure!

I really enjoyed the trip and after hearing the stories of what Angry Sparrow & Hetairoi had endured the week before and the forecast for this week we are so blessed to have had the nice weather we had!

The support we had from Potneck with the shuttle, firewood and his wife's homemade hot apple cider the first night was truly special. And the water cashes that Ragnall & Hangnout had placed the weekend before made the constant quest for water simple and without worry!
And it's always a pleasure to hang with Angry Sparrow and Hetairoi, I really enjoyed our time around the campfire, I hope to see you guys again soon.

Of course I could go on & on about who to thank from my end because my adventure didn't start at Devils Elbow when we put on the water. It started in September when I decided to buy a new kayak. itsandy drove two hours away from his town to pick it up for me then two weeks later drove all the way from Tallahassee to Linville Gorge to deliver it to me. Then I had to get to work on outfitting it and that took a month! Thanks to No Feather for his tireless support and also to my local outfitters store and the guys at the wood shop for help with the rudder installation. I had it in my living room, No Feather's Living room, the outfitters, and at the shop twice. I barley got it ready in time! Wheew!

The trip also got me in gear to really learn how to use my GPS by taking lessons from No Feather though October. He also helped with making maps for me that were paired to match the GPS. They were a real help for me each day to know exactly where we were and where we were headed. I brought back data and a daily log from each day which earned me a passing grade!!

If you're into this sort of thing here is some of the data saved from my GPS for each day.

That looks like a very nice place to paddle, the kayaks are super nice too! And yes, the weather looks perfect as well! “Go hang my hammock and take a nap” - what a great idea! 53 miles is a good paddle. Well done and thanks for the trip report, MedicineMan!

Interesting to note that the fastest paddle days were against the current. Both lakes are on rivers that are north flowing, making the KY Lake an upstream paddle. You all did well!
