    Smoky Mountain Brothers . . .Unite! :)

I keep looking on this sub-forum for someone to start a group hang in East Tennessee. I know I'm still in the "new and excited" phase, but I'm ready to start "hangin" with you Hangers

I live in Knoxville-- any fellas out my way interested in getting together? Hike and Hang would be ok, but I'd love to do a hang somewhere where I don't have to lug my stuff that far I'm not sure where abouts I might find a campground that would have the kind of trees we need, but maybe someone does

Good peeps and a whole ton of knowledge at this one. Too cold for my blood though.

Just keep your eyes on the board. Other SE hangs will start popping up in a month or two. Or, you can circle a date on the calendar and start your own organized hang.

    Yep,

I saw that one. Might be a little too much for a newbie like me. Not sure about the whole ice covered steep climb part

I want to try and get something going in the next 30-45 days. Any other East Tennessee guys got some good spots in the area? I hung at Edgar Evins State Park a couple of weeks ago! It was pretty awesome in the primitive camping area.

Yeah I can't wait to see something in East Tennessee or North Georgia also. Still new to the hammock way of life so the Roan mountain group hang is a little out of my reach at the moment.

There is about a 10 or 12 mile hike southbound on the AT Allen Gap into Hot springs. Hang at the fire tower about half way. Between now and spring can get cold and icy tho you just never know. If you can wait til spring Max Patch in bloom cant be beat.

Are you looking for a "hammock 101 in the backcountry"? Try Frozen Head State Park, Judge Branch backcountry campsite. From the trailhead (with a restroom) it's a mile hike on a easy trail as rated by the park. I've been there with the family, a nice spot. Pick a date; lot's of free time during the holidays and I'm due for a lollygag hang.

Think it might be time for a Bob's Bald overnighter before Xmas?

Short hike with cold temps and nasty winds. Shouldn't be all that bad.
