    Winter sock ????

I was looking at winter socks on youtube the other day and I came across one that was basically a big opening on one end with a taper at the other. The taper slipped on your ridgeline and you pulled the sock over you, cinching the wide end shut with a draw cord. I can't find the video again. Anybody know if that sounds like a commercially made sock. I just saw the same design on a watermonkey vid and it was made by papasmurf.

Also try simply light design. Theirs might weigh less and be cheaper. I have one and it's great and super simple!!!

I lake the Warbonnet Travel Sock design.
The zipper makes it so you can zip from the ends in for the right amount of coverage, but still leave an opening in the top center for ventilation. Good for when spray or snow is blowing in on the ends of your hammock.

Easy to get in and out of

+1 on the Warbonnet style vs the cinched end style like Dream Hammock sells. The zippered style makes it easier to manage moisture, which is an issue with socks of any kind.

I have what I think is a solid theory as to why the Warbonnet design is superior to others I've seen.

The material is highly breathable and if you leave the zipper slightly open near the top center, warm moisture laden air rises and exits through the gap. This draws the dryer outside air through the sock fabric and your your underquilt, reducing condensation in your insulation and the walls of the sock.

I'm not saying it totally gets rid of condensation, but I suspect it suffers less than other systems, especially systems that are less breathable and/or have that vent on the ends instead of the top.
