    Can't make the Hang

Guys, I've known for some time I would not be able to make this years hang in Jan. I had a great time last year as we experienced all the weather that old mountain could muster. I traded my Winter hang for a Florida beach trip with mrs. Golfhiker. That said, I do think I'm going to be on the AT for a few miles in Feb. so all is not lost.

I wish you all a great 8th Hang. I'm sorry to miss it. Maybe 2015!

looking at the weather, it looks to me like we will be subfreezing for a lot of the time, definitely overnight and some flurries possible, that is not considering our altitude and exposure.

    Just for fun...

Here's the earliest planning thread I found for what became HFs 1st official Group Winter Hang.
We began talking about it in July of 06, the year HF was started. And the first winter group hang was Jan of 07.

Here's a poll for the "1st HF Winter Hang"

Here's what appears to be the final planning thread.

OK, thanks, 2Q. I'm hoping to get there around noon, so I'll probably have started hiking or even be there by the time you start.

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver
