    Quarter Sock

When the temps plummeted last week I camped out in the 20's when we normally see about 40 deg here. The first morning my face/nose was very cold. So, I hung a small fleece blanket over the ridge line on the head end of the hammock, covering shoulders/head, draped over the sides. It created a pocket of warm air and made a big improvement. Kind of like a partial sock.

    Sounds good...
Might want to thinking about trying it with something a bit lighter that can do the same thing.. Like tyvek or a plastic bag or something that might help save some weight?

It's not procrastinating, its proactively delaying the implementation of the energy-intensive phase of the project until the enthusiasm factor is at its maximum effectiveness.

    Polycro?

I did a similar thing with polycro and call them peak beaks:

When I make a new set for my winter tarp they will be 30" on both ends and I'll use my tent-sock instead of a bug net:

    ...

    And 12' Noah's Tarp.

I use a military poncho liner loosely wrapped around my head to keep it warm.. I leave an opening just big enough to breathe thru.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

I like that idea. That looks easy enough to work with and very beneficial. I'm going to have to look in to something like that. Thanks for the tip.

    You're welcome, Muse.

The double-sided tape that comes with the polyco works great -- used it on other projects. Don't know why I used the Tyvek tape on the peak beaks. ???

Small fleece blanket is one of my luxury items, that almost always gets carried. Nothing works better for me than one used for a pillow. I don't roll it up though. I fold it into a three or four layered rectangle, then lay it flat under my shoulders, neck and head. Like it so much there, I'd never think of sacrificing it to hang it from my RL.

I like the Polycro beaks. Looks like very light weight weather insurance. Not something I'd use on an every night basis, but extremely quick to deploy and possibly a "game saver" in some conditions.
