    New in Boston

    Hello Everyone,

I just purchased my first hammock and tarp a few weeks ago. I am 30 years old and grew up in GA. I gained a lot of backpacking experience hiking/camping/fishing up and down the Chattooga River (SC/NC/GA). My favorite spot to be outdoors is around Burrells Ford on the Chattooga. As my name indicates (name of a song by the band named Widespread Panic), I really enjoy fly-fishing. I now live in the Boston area and backpack in the White Mountains of NH as much as possible.

I look forward to learning and participating in the Forum as much as possible.

    Take care everyone.

    WELCOME! from southern VA!

Sounds like you've had experience already in some beautiful parts of the country.

Welcome from Alabama. I occasionally pull up the old Widespread Panic CD (or at least the MP3s).

    Hey Fishwater,

As my Pal from Western Massachusetts, Tri-Pod Bob says, welcome to Massachusetts. I too, am in Western Massachusetts. We have some great outdoor resources on this end of the state, so when you get settled in and start looking for areas other than the Whites, be sure to check in with us.

My middle son has a place in Jackson, NH, about 15 minutes away from Pinkham Notch. His place makes a great base camp for me when I head up to that part of the world. I enjoy the Whites and there is a lot to see up there. But..... don't forget Western Massachusetts and the Adirondacks in NY. Just over the line.

Best of wishes and soak up all of the knowledge on this Forum. There are so many knowledgeable folks on here, that make it so awesome to browse.

    All the best !

===> Welcome to Mass! And the trees! There are quite a few if us in/near Boston, and plenty in Mass. I am a fly fishing Instructor for the state, and worked as one for LL Bean for 5 years. I gave a beginning clinic at the last NEHHA hang in Western Mass. If we hang together, let's flog some water!

Keep an eye on the Northeast trip planning sub forum ...this is an active group, with a lot if smaller, impromptu hangs organized. We are trying to get a hang together for the weekend if the 21st! Stay tuned, and welcome again!
