Zipper entry for a couple of reasons.

    1. You can unzip it all the way and tie it back out of the way when the bug net's not in use. This helps make it a true 4 season hammock

    2. If you will be messing with underquilts or hammock socks, a zipper makes it much easier. In fact, does anyone have a bottom entry hammock sock?

    3. Having the zipper makes it easier for you to adjust your underquilt on the fly.

The zipper will not get stuck and it's quick in and out too. I never get any bugs inside when I zip myself in.
A lotta ins... lotta outs... lotta what-have-you's

    .
I think of the HH Super Shelter with Overcover as kind of a sock, more or less. Though it probably allows more ventilation(pros and cons) around the edges than one piece socks. It is designed for bottom entry, though I also have used it with no significant problems on zip models. That's the only one though.
Apparently, signature that I used from 2006 no longer tolerated so now deleted.

I've had both, I prefer the zip. No real reason, I just like it better.

I have a double zipper DD Travel hammock now. While I use the bugbear at night I turn it over or fold it in half for lounging, just like I will when my HH arrives. I haven't used it yet obviously but I'm looking forward to trying it.

I like the idea of having less modern gadgets for want of a better way of putting it. Simpler I hope to be better.

I understand what people say about adjusting under you, but everything else still looks easy enough.

After reading the rest of the posts on this thread it seems to me that you've already made your decision. But FWIW I sold my Hennessy Asym Explorer hammock for two reasons. The reasons not necessarily in order of importance were the weight (2 lbs 9 ozs) and the toothy part of the bottom entry rubbing me the wrong way.

IMHO the zipper entry is the way to go. I'd probably still have it if my Asym Explorer had been the zipper entry.

Another advantage of the zip entry is that you can hang really low, I think getting in and out through a bottom entry would be more difficult in this case. Of course, the best is to have both if its worth the hassle of having it customized after...

Getting out of the Hennessy when it is hanging low is an adventure. Last summer I tried using the descender rings on my suspension and they slipped during the night. Woke up and discovered my butt about six inches off the ground. Squirming thru that bottom entry was pretty comical. Wish I had a zipper at that point.
