Oh yes, it ends...I am expecting the arrival of an insulated mug I claimed on the PIF thread. That is the final piece of my kit... for sure. With that I will have completed my nesting cook set which will be the end of all my additions, deletions, upgrades, changes, DIY projects, winterizing, summerizing, weight shaving, comfort adding, that looks cool I better get one, etc., that I have been doing to my setup since my first hammock 3 years ago.
That's it, no more, I mean it, really...

My wife is understanding and has said after Christmas I can add a few things. Guess if she sees it get delivered it counts. If I can sneak it in, it never happened. Plus she has approved me going on a trip this spring. Whoopie slings, tree straps, hex tarp, under quilt and a lot more on my "want" list.

The key word you used is "want", that is very different than "need". I have all I need to hang very comfortably, but I don't have all I want. I will never have all I want. It is an addiction, but I don't want a cure.

I've finally got to the point where almost every trip is down to a science. Using the same gear, procedures, etc. I even started selling some of my extra gear.

It's a great feeling! But I always keep my eye out for a fun extra item here or there.

Add that to a motorcycle and fishing addiction and ...

That's the point that I hope to get to eventually. Now that I have a brand new thread injector and I've been learning how to use it, I have a bunch of projects in the queue that I want to start working on. The trick is figuring out which one I want to do first, second, and so on.

A hammock is large swatch of fabric suspended from two points into which you pour lots of money and gear to see how much it can really hold.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

I was at that point too. I could be ready for a thruhike in about 2 hours, including food shopping. I knew what gear I liked, where it was stored, what food to take, etc...been content that way for several years.

then I went and ordered a hammock yesterday. Now I have to relearn, retweak, etc. Been lurking for awhile, absorbing the strange and weird vocabulary...whoopies, toggles,'biners, etc.

I dont think that there is an end. I'm always wanting the next big thing that I think will make my experience better.
