This isn't kid friendly, I'm thinking of going, wondering if anyone has any feedback.

Looks like part drum circle, part techno dance party, part camping!!
I already asked about the spots for hammocks

I went to the webiste and it says it was last updated Nov 17th. I can't find any info on the Dec 31 and Jan 24th events. It may just be me???
"No whining in the woods"
This is the Facebook page on these guys. I want to go but I guess I'm feeling shy about it.

Well, the name of their company is somewhat scary - google Donkey Punch and see what you get. Second, all the DJs are middle-aged white guys. Third, their events are clothing optional.
Ever been to an event "like this one"?
Don't know enough about it to say one way or another.
30 years ago I went to hippie hillbilly redneck parties in the hills of southwestern Virginia with bluegrass music, improvised saunas, river raft floats, 'shine, much nudity and general shenanigans. Those were great times...but you can bet your a$$ there weren't any techno DJ's, just fiddles, guitars and all manners of stringed instruments.
It's all about the vibe...
My sister was in a bluegrass band and always invited me to festivals out in the Alabama woods. I wasn't much into bluegrass, so I hesitated to accept the invitation. But boy was I glad when I did! The bluegrass festivals I went to were like mini-Woodstocks - fine memories indeed.
Donkey Punch looks like a cross between a swingers rave and Burning Man
The annual moonshiners convention and bluegrass festival is held between Spartanburg SC and Asheville, they also have another bluegrass festival each year. It is very well done if you like bluegrass music. Their web site is

Well, if we are just talking festivals, the old fiddler's convention in Galax Va has been going strong for 78 years. Had some pretty good times there. Sociology prof at Va Tech suggested I go, didn't come home for a week.
Have sherpas, will travel...

Not much for DJ music at festivals, but to each their own.
AllGood, Bonnaroo, and the used to be Rothbury music fests, were and are all hammock friendly.
Most woods and trees are first come first serve and usually no parking. But for a short hike or two, people with the cheap tickets, can almost always find a decent hang. Most still bring tents, and the rich don't leave their campgrounds, so uneven ground is your friend, once again.
Don't be shy. I've found if the music suits you, then most of the people will too.
Hammock Friendly? I'd say so. Last year at AllGood, Trail to Tree had a booth up selling them.
We bring cheap harbor freight tarps and leave them up to "hold" the trees, then put the hammocks up only when we're at the campsite. Most just leave their Eno's up, but I feel better about my BIAS, out of sight out of mind, although, theft does seem to be somewhat rare. Have fun. You'll make friends with whoever camps next to you, and everyone sort of looks after each other and their stuff.
Nudity is always "allowed" but there has been a trend the last couple years, that less IS more
Signature suspended
Not for me. Doesn't look very relaxing, or tasteful.
