Thanks for the warm welcome!

Amsterdam sure is a great place to live, especially in the historical centre where I am. But one does need to get out a bit sometimes Great to hear that some of you've been here and loved it so much!

@Big Bacon: I agree it would be nice to share this, bit OTOH: this gives me an opportunity share something exclusively with my son. I have fond memories of things I used to do with only my dad. I sure hopes the kid likes it, so it will be 'our thing'. Beats cookie baking!

@pretbek: It's Cathelijne (and you got the spelling right at once, too!), but I usually go by just 'lijn'

@Wlb007: yup: bike on the train, cycle a few miles and find a spot. That's the plan!

@bruinfan: I can see how this would become an expensive hobby. But we'll start doing summer trips with the old synthetic heavy stuff and then buy/replace stuff as we grow into it.

Man haven't been to the dam since 2008 but still I can taste AOL the lovely plants from Hill Street Blues... Good times hanging by the water... Now its time.to go back hammock style.
