Temp Rating Question

I am thinking about getting a burrow top quilt and I am not sure if I should go for a 20 or 40 degree version.

I live in the deep south and I honestly avoid camping in dead winter or the heat of summer. So I will be dealing with temps at night from the low 60's down to the mid 30's. (And honestly hardly any of my camping would be nights with low temps down below the mid to high 40's).

I am probably more of a cold sleeper but not extremely so. Should I go with a 40 degree TQ as is, add some loft to a 40 degree TQ, or just be safe and order a 20 degree TQ?

if you get your quilt from one of the little guys you should be fine, most do not get their quilts professionaly tested, so to avoid bad reviews they make them about 5 degrees warmer than than they need to be

40* should be fine for your needs. You can always augment with extra clothing or a light fleece blanket/throw/snuggie.

I was able to sleep, not well, but sleep at 30* with a 45* bag by wearing everything I would have in my backpack while testing in the back yard. I always want to know what the limits of my gear are so I don't get caught.

If after some testing, if you feel it just isn't warm enough, then sell it and get a 20*, or just keep them both and be comfortable for three full seasons. Well, mostly, not much you can do in the heat of the summer except sweat.

Or if you get a 40* and find it's not warm enough, I imagine that you can pay them to add more down to it. Double check with Adam before hand though...
From what I've read, if you call and talk with him he'll be able to answer all of your questions and make a good recommendation to fit your needs. (I recently bought a burrow, but knew that I wanted a 20* so I could use it most of the year, and vent it (kick it down to the foot end) during the summer if it gets too warm.
