I was wondering if you could use figure 9's to attach a ridgeline, and where can I purchase some.

They typically aren't used to 'attach' a ridgeline, but rather to tension a ridgeline.
They are sold in Home Depot stores in some regions, or online.

I use the figure 9 carabiners clipped to the ridgeline attachment rings on my tarp and it seems to work pretty good. I got mine at REI. http://www.rei.com/product/765515 I use the standard figure 9's for the tie-outs.http://www.rei.com/product/765518
Both of the Home Depot's near me has quit carrying the Figure 9's completely. They are down-sizing their offerings alot. I have noticed it in various departments thru-out the store.

Can Figure 9's handle the load of a structural ridgeline? Seems iffy to me.

I've also been considering picking up several of these, however I'm not sold yet on them being more reliable than a taut-line hitch. Anyone ever have any problems with the figure 9's slipping or even breaking under harsh conditions?
