    More info needed.

What kind of ridgeline? Ridgeline for a tarp? or structural ridgeline for a hammock? Tying to what? Rings?

I'm not sure what the knot is called in this video, but it's used to add tension to the line. The one I use on one end is at 22 seconds in this video.

Tarp has short lengths of cord off the ridgeline pulls that I tie a prussik knot to the ridgeline with.

I used to use figure 9's, but it always took me forever to get the tarp hung up to my satisfaction.

Taut-Line Hitch. Easy to tie, holds well, and adjustable.

Trucker's Hitch all day long. I can't remember the last time I ties a Tautline Hitch.
But be careful with this hitch, you can break something...

Agree, that is a winner, I use it a lot. But there are several other fine choices. So many that, once I got re-acquainted with them, I stopped fooling with my fig 9's, though many folks love those. They are great, but it was so easy for me to do a knot or a wrap, it was just one more thing for me to keep up with. Maybe I'll try them again sometime soon.

Other winners: a slippery truckers hitch

( be careful applying to much tension which might abrade your line or damage the tarp- watch that 3-1 leverage).

A round turn and a slippery half hitch, http://www.animatedknots.com/roundtu...matedknots.com

Or a a Speer 4 wrap knot, but I don't think you need all 4 wraps. ( see Speer book or web sites). These all work just fine, and there are probably others.
