ViDEO: -14º Night in Hammock and Pod System Quick-Look

Just a wee short video of a cold but warm -14º night in the back 40 here in Minnesota. Using my deep-winter pod system…..oh so warm.
Prepping up for a trip up north soon and the MN FBH.

It was -11º here when I awoke. My thermometer recorded -14º as the low here last night. Whooooooo Buddy))))
I was toasty warm in my Pod System. Not even a little bit cold!!! Slept in little clothing….two light fleece shirts, long capilene insulated underwear, fleece tights, one pair smart wool socks. Balaclava, beanie, BlackRock hat and down hood and fleece face-mask on head.
Pod System….20º Western Mountaineering sleeping bag over hammock with Warbonnet 0º Black Mamba TQ, Therarest Sit-pad in TQ under feet. Frankenquilt 20º UQ under me inside pod. My down jacket over footbox. 2QZQ Underquilt Protector hanging loosely under all. Very warm and no condensation.

    Whooooooooooo Buddy.

Bit of an alien…my Dad's fault.
I got a bit busy wrapping gifts last night and felt yawny so I almost did not go out. Glad I did as I slept very warm and had some good and fun dreams. Been waiting to go out but not worth in unless it is -10º or below…….

I resisted one but they are very effective in the snow. Still have to reach out and hit the tarp sometimes to dump snow off but the pole mad really helps with a total tarp collapse.

Are you intending to call this the Pee Pod? Cool idea...I am going to try it with the kids.
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.

Nope….I exit the pod to pee. Love the feeling of being out then getting back in leaving some yellow snow with my name partially spelled.

COLD BUDDY!!! Man Makes me yearn for some freezing piney woods.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

In the confusion of waking up and before your coffee, do not fall into the urge to eat the yellow snow. It is not a lemon flavored snow cone lol.
