    UQ Protector Design Questions

    Hello all,
I have a DIY JCP UQ that I made and would like to add some weather protection to it.

I ordered some 1.1 oz ripstop and am deciding on my design.

If I don't mind having it permanently attached, would sewing the ripstop on the back of the UQ work just as well as having a separate entity?
Also, since the ripstop is breathable, would it be fine to sew it completely closed or should I still leave gaps for ventilation.

Just a couple of my quandaries.

    Thanks

I think having a separate UQP is better--you don't always need one and no sense in carrying the extra weight. My underquilt protector encloses the entire bottom of my hammock. It is gathered at both ends with shock cord and has shock cord adjustments on the sides as well.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
