So whats the etiquette on posting pics ?

On my other forum most folks post full sized pics . You can check things out in a nano second or two . I notice most folks just post the attached thumbnails here . Is it an unwritten rule or something ? Im sure it takes up more space and the aforementioned other forum recently reduced our allowable posting to 5 photos .

Good question. When I joined, I just followed the crowd. When I have slipped up and posted regular sized pics, no one made any comments one way or the other.

I personally prefer the larger pics so I can just continue scrolling thru the thread.

No real rule, personally I use a third party to host the pics and then I link the image here in a mediumish size, just because that is what I like to see. Large pics can be difficult to view on smaller screens though. My only dislike really are when people (and I'm sure it is unintentional) post a long row of pictures, but that is mostly just my laziness not wanting to scroll right just to have to scroll left again after viewing all the lovely photos.

ha, I keep my laptop plugged into my tv. my phone only gets used as a phone. Those rows of large pics are nice on my 32" screen

I think a lot of people use tapatalk to post photos take from their phone which creates the little thumbs and resizes the image to roughly 800x600 so that they are easily viewed on a phone. Also smaller images use less data and some folks are on a limited data plan. If you plan on posting many high res photos it is polite to warn people in the thread title.

This is an age related thing...full size or thumbnail? I'm just so pleased when I can figure out and remember how to post a pic.

My preference is a nice thread with the photos in line with the text so that say in a trip report it kinda flows, as you read you then see the scenery. It really is personal an it's fine either way. I get the data usage thing for folks on a phone so a (with lots of pics) added to the tittle of the thread never hurt. But when I am on my phone even at home or the shop with good WiFi coverage I personally hate to click on the thumbnails as it opens another window, then close it after checking out the picture, jump back to the thread, click the next and repeat. Most of the time if there is a lot of pics I might just look at one or two when on my phone. My Preference is full size pictures overall.

I guess I am a fuddy duddy, I really dislike the little tiny images, by the time I enlarge them enough to get a decent view, they are too grainy. Now I just pass on them, I do not bother to look.
