It's already been mentioned here.
But one more thumbs up for the U-shaped inflatible travel pillow.
I use mine with just very,..very...little air in it.
It does the job and packs down to nothing.

Do you take a down camp jacket. I use a Montbell 6oz jacket around camp and when its time to turn in, I use it in my pillowcase hat. Its there for me in the morning, and its quite comfortable as a down pillow. I might add that often the trouble with regular pillows is that they fall down behind your back and then you have to do contortions to retrieve it. The pillowcase hat approach eliminates losing the pillow in that way.

I use a piece of folded up Fleecie. I use to roll it up, but found one night, after using a nicely made hammock pillow, that I only needed about 1/2 to 1" of support to be comfortable.
The small folded blanket actually provides my neck and shoulders a little additional coverage and insulation as well, AND stays in place w/o a tether or much of a wrestling match.
Pillows are additional bulk and so is the blanket, but it usually finds its way in the pack, where the pillow does not.

Shamelessly stealing from Shug, I use JRB down sleeves or my MontBell down vest depending on what I am wearing.

I DIYed a down pillow when i was getting started just to try out doing baffels and differential cut before i made my UQ. Best thing i have ever done. I forgot it one night as was just upset. I slept but wished the whole night i had a pillow. I made a 10"x15" pillow with 4 oz of down in it. I used some down i got from a down jacket at a thrift store, cost me all of about $10 and i got experience. Plus then i had extra fabric to play around with, stuff sacks and such.
In a gathered-end I use just a neck pillow and am fine.
In a bridge, I need thicker pillow since a bridge doesn't have the incline.
Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated. I'll have a look at travel/self inflating pillows I think. I also have a down jacket but for high summer it's rather superfluous... Good idea for winter though
One of the neck pillows with the soft beads inside. If it's winter; I use my coat or down vest as my pillow.
