The Superfly and Mamajamba have little key chain rings as the main connection to the tarp at each side of the ridgeline. They're about 1/2" in diameter, so you couple probably turn your trekking pole upside down and put the tip through the key chain ring.

EDIT: Here's a pic from when I was practicing setting up my Mamajamba up as a ground tarp. You can see the ring at the end of the tarp ridgeline. I had a loop of zing-it already attached to the ring, so I didn't try sticking the pole through the ring. It may or may not be big enough.

Excellent. I could not tell from the picture on the war bonnet site that it was there. Thanks!

I intentionally went with a Zpacks 8.5x11 rectangular because of the versatility.
Makes a perfect ground tarp and can be pitched for a hammock as a winter tarp by staking out the second tie-out from each end and staking the end corner ties folded in as doors for winter camping.

Zpacks and others will make custom sizes as well if you want longer sides for winter hammock hangs at additional cost and weight.

Here's a link to my solution to your problem.

Basic HH Hex tarp, then had 2QZQ add doors and a center pole mod (which will keep the snow off), but also had them add velcro to the doors.

This pretty much makes the tarp into a tarptent that can be completely closed, and HH has plastic d-rings/triangles on the ends of the ridgeline for their tarp, through with the points of my poles will fit just fine.

By the way, here are pictures of some square and rectangular tarps that I used in November.
The 8.5x11 is in the last few pics, pitched for a cold windy evening.
