    Im 5' 10" . . .

    I'm a big guy though . . .

I have an 11 ft Thunderbird that is about 63" wide. I think that if I were to go shorter, I would go wider. It seems to me that a longer hammock allows for a narrower hammock and still alleviates calf ridge etc. YMMV , I'm new here, but I love the 11 ft Thunderbird. I also like the fact that its a little more narrow. I can see out better and I don't feel completely swallowed up by all the material in the extra width. Just my two cents.

If you don't want the weight of doors then a grizbeaks from 2qzq and take a set when needed.

Hey Duct...I see you use CCF for your insulation.
Do you find that adequate for our winters?
Also what type of hammock are you using?
    sorry for all the questions.

I am using a Claytor hammock. I find CCF to be superior insulation in our winters. Most who eschew the pads do so not because of warmth issues but for comfort and/or condensation. I don't have those issues. I have done minus 22*F with pads and was plenty warm with no loss of comfort or condensation. To me, the only downside (no pun intended) with ccf is the bulk.

No need for doors even with our adirondack rain. I use an OES Deluxe tarp with no issues. a jrb 10x11 in winter only for the windbreak.

    Hey dave...
    Is 63'' narrow ?
I was looking at the WBBB and I pretty sure that the measurement and that was a 10 footer .
In the setup video It seemed pretty wide.
63 was I had written in my notes for width if I was going to order a Dream Hammock.

Is that a double layer hammock for the pad?
If it is do you find it a major weight penalty?
    Good insight about the doors.
Im still wrestling with the "Cool Factor".
They look like a tarptent so its comforting I guess.lol

It is a DL. My hammock with suspension is 34 oz. Yep it is heavier but my base weight is still only 12 lbs in summer. I use a 2/3 UQ in the summer. The JRB 10x11 looks like a tarp tent with the ends closed up.
