Hello there, Anders from Sweden here

Hello there, Anders from Sweden here. Two of my many passions is hiking and dogs. The hiking passion started already when I was a child. Almost every weekend me and my family was out hiking or just enjoying the outdoors.

My passion for dogs is of a later date. I have been an dog owner for about four years now, and for the last two years I am an owner of two male dogs. My oldest dog is called Zompa, he is 6 years old and the young one is called Eddie and is two years old. He is one of Zompas 22 puppies from his second last litter of 7. The breed of dog is finnish lapphund, traditionally they have been used for herding reindeer.

Before I got the dogs I was in to hiking and the out-doors, but on a more moderate scale. After I got the first dog my passion for hiking and walking really has grown. If you are a dog owner you have to walk the dog every day so why not make it your passion. Exercise is good for both you and your dog.

When I am out hiking I can be out for up to a week. And with the right preparation and gear it’s a joy to just walk all day long. It’s meditative and very relaxing for the mind.

As for so many others Ed Speers book inpired me to start with hammock camping, a thing I have never regret. I also have a blog where I write about higking, dogs, and backpacing in general now and then.

Welcome from the owner of 2 Siberian Huskies. They also started me on my love for hiking.

You are also welcome to attend our SKAHO-hang in Muddus the 5th to 8th of June. Sadly dogs are not allowed in the park.

Welcome Anders to Hammock forums from Wess in Michigan! Yes, hiking and dogs are great things and both can be part of hammocking.

Welcome, Anders. I enjoyed the account of your five day trip with Zompa, and very much agree with your philosophy of hiking with your canine companion. I'm starting training of my new trail dog, Freia, now that I've revised the strap system for her pack.
