Had a great time New Years Eve.
Nice fire, lots of wood around.
Didn't get that cold but I used something new the last couple of times I went out. I hate to get the head end of my top quilt frosty from my breath when it's below freezing and I don't like breaking out the fly.
I always put up a ridge line - just in case - so when it gets cold I suspend a poncho liner from it. The head end is tied to the top of the hammock, about where my head is I suspend it a little above where my head would be and the foot end is suspended resting on the hammock and top quilt - this keeps it from sliding off during the night.
Makes a little pocket that holds some warm air. Good for playing with your smart phone at night.
It can be thrown off to the side while getting in and out.
