-40F is crazy talk! Having said that, extra, super, very well done on your personal best low score! I hope the fingy is OK. It was good to see you doing coffee from the hammy. You don't do that, or Breaky, much these days, I miss it. I find nuts are the go for stocking the fire, when I wake up a little cool at 4 or 5 in the morning. A hand full of nuts and I'm back off to sleep, as happy (and warm) as a pig in poop. Anyway, Mr Shug, my hat is off to you for your icy great achievement, you're a tuff nut! Thanks for the frosty video, it was great!

Amazing you can take it dressed and mentally prepared for it. Was out for a while last night under-dressed in -8º and realized how cold could kill you quickly.

Thankee Brucie. I do breakfast from the Hammock a bit more and with more leisure on solo trips. Good to hear from you way down there.

    Hey Shug,

As always, another great video. You guys sure do get some amazing weather!

Question though; do you have any idea what other extreme cold outdoor enthusiasts like mountain climbers or arctic trekkers do to keep frost off of their down bags?
Survival is about getting out alive, Bushcraft is about going in to live - Chard (aka Forest-Hobo)

Awesome (yes, I said awesome!) video!

My 14 year old and I enjoy your videos. He hasn't seen this one yet...he may get a chance today while school is off. In my part of Maryland, getting 5 - 6 inches of snow is a big deal that causes panic and school closures.

Anyway, he and I were shoveling snow from the driveway last night. Temps were in the upper 20's. We had chatted about your experience earlier in the day. While we were shoveling, we talked about your CAMPING in temps that were nearly 70 colder than what we were experiencing at that moment.

Quite impressive! Glad you were warm, safe, and able to share the experience.

    Thanks!

    Bruce
