I would think frostbite is nearly unavoidable in temps close to -40F. I don't see how every inch of your skin can stay covered to avoid it. I figure that standing very close to a fire is about the only way to have exposed skin for any period of time.

Thanks again for the cocoa)))) Sure warmed the soul.
Not sure what the others do to keep frost down.

My 14 year old and I enjoy your videos. He hasn't seen this one yet...he may get a chance today while school is off. In my part of Maryland, getting 5 - 6 inches of snow is a big deal that causes panic and school closures.

Anyway, he and I were shoveling snow from the driveway last night. Temps were in the upper 20's. We had chatted about your experience earlier in the day. While we were shoveling, we talked about your CAMPING in temps that were nearly 70 colder than what we were experiencing at that moment.

Quite impressive! Glad you were warm, safe, and able to share the experience.

    Thanks!

Warms my heart ya'll watch together. What a great time we had up there.

We were lucky to have a good sheltered spot and that winds were light. Otherwise we both would have been banking up snow around the hammocks and hunkering down in our hammock rigs.
Fire was a blessing big-time. Plus Strung Out found some 5-star firewood.

Well Shug, when I first saw the -29 vid of yours, I thought geeesh, look at those crazy coots! Now I am saying the same thing! Awesome preparation to make it through the night at -40. Gosh dog! And here I am wondering how to keep myself warm at 20* for the fla 4 hang!!!

You always impress me! Even the stoves impressed me! You and Strung out are the men!!

Thankee a bunch. Did some test picking' today. Not bad on the tip as it has gotten hard on the frost tip.

Even my wife worried a bit when she heard the radio reports on weather whilst we were up there. Just a bit though..

I've got the fever. Record lows predicted tonight (in MD that's still above zero). I'm gonna sleep out in the yard. I think I'll be good, but I also think it'll be the limit of my gear. Thanks for the inspiration!
