    Problem with my skeeter beater

Hello I am a complete noob when it comes with hammocks, I was given this as a gift. This is a pick of both ends, some how one of them has come undone, How do I fix this. Also Do I just attach caribiners inside the loop or am I doing this wrong. Thanks for your time I appreciate it http://imgur.com/lQ6Y1b1

There are lots of ways to do it. None are wrong unless they don't work for you. Attaching some biners like you said is one way. they will also act as a drip point in the rain which is a good thing. Not sure of the general suspension system used in the skeeter beetr now. Mine were from before the Grand Trunk name was used. I am also not sure of the bugnet suspension currently used. It used to be a two-rope system. I didn't care for it so I modded it to be more like the Claytor or DD style.

Anyway, back to your original question. There seems to be a lot of excess knotting. I would remove it all and retie it. double over the cord and make a figure-eight knot. Then slip this into the channel. You can either feed the end back through the corded loop to cinch, or attach the biner to both ends.

I do not recommend you so this. Although you will see this used a lot on this forum.

I think this is the best way to attach you suspension.

    Mike,

UnoGear gave the photos which match the two options I described. I concur with him about using the second.

I'm considering doing away with the whoopie fixed end which is larksheaded through the channel.

I'm thinking of opting for a CL constructed in the channel, not passed through. I would then larkshead the whoopie to that or a ring in the CL.

    Thoughts?

While you're at it buy two whoopie hooks from Dutch and put those on the continuous lines through the hammock channel. Now you can attach (and detach) your whoopies easily.

If you larkshead the whoopie directly to the CL that will work. If you put a ring in the CL you will not be able to wash or dry you hammock in a washing machine/dryer. You could larkhead the ring to the CL then the whoopie to the ring.

I had looked into those especially as small and light as they are. but since I already have a connection at the the tree, I want to keep everything connected at the hammock side for less setup time. of course these are lighter and smaller than the nano 23's, and equally convenient and easy for the kids.

I fear my larks head is too tight on the hammock now, it is only a 3" fixed end on both the HHULBP and the GTUL

I've been wondering if there was a minimum bend radius issue for using the amsteel in this configuration. I can see washing the GTUL, the HH, not so much.
