    Let's have a heated discussion...

On high temps. There's a lot of threads being posted about how cold you've gone and personal bests for low temps that it got me thinking...what is the highest recorded temp a forum member has hung at and been confessed as comfortable.

Perhaps the same rules should apply for photos or it didn't happen, but I'd just like to think some warm thoughts for a bit.

Seeing as I am in NY, the high temps I have done wouldn't seem to hot, just like the low temps for some do not seem that cold to me. That said, I spent a week in temps over 90*F. The hammock portion was actually a nice respite as the tarp provided shade, and any air movement provided a cooling sensation on my back. Laying naked in my hammock in those temps with humidity was the only time I was really comfortable on that 100 mile trip. No photos; I am sure no one wanted to see my naked bum in the hammock anyway.

I"ve hung with my boys in about 110 degree heat. It was HOT! The hammock was nice though becuase of the convection effect it was WAY better than sleeping on the ground.

I live in Guam so its consistently a low of about 80 at night. It always ends up around that area. Because of that, insulation is not necessary here so I have my base weight down to around 7lbs. I'm mostly comfortable at that temp as long as my water intake is plentiful.

For sake of argument, its always super humid here, does that count for anything?

My forum name is Fish<><; I'm in the navy; and I hate sleeping on the ground. If I didn't need ground to walk on or measure resistance to, I think I could happily give it up.

80 degrees at night was my high, which felt cool compared to the near 100 during the day.

I've spent a week (twice) with temps in the 90's at 2 am with 90% humidity and plenty of mosquitos and biting flies (so you needed a net) with no breeze. I know the temp at 2 am because I was changing the batteries in my fan each time. I don't know that I slept as much as just lay there and sweat nodding off occasionally. I know it was much worse in a tent.

Based on the cold weather advice here the next time I'm going to try taking an ice pack with me and see what that does (probably just make me want to pee more often).
    Thanks,

    Mr. G

Our temps for us kayakers/campers on the Colorado river or lake hovers around 116 during July image sleeping around midnight at 100. No UQ or TQ just a sheet feels great sleeping on fabric shorts tee shirt and if a chill bring that summer bag. Good thing no bugs just open air in the hammock rain none just a hot summer breeze humidity low desert air. The blazing sun that gets us drop weight from winter camping only to add more water. Shade slim to none when thinking of gear then the tarp is a necessary. Most of the time I head for higher elevation cooler temps during summer.

My high temp was 16°C (61°F) this summer (hot summer for us btw) :ashamed: yeah it's a bit pathetic but that's about as hot as nights get in Scotland, my low is pretty poor too... -5°C (23°F), but will hopefully get better before winter is over!
