The main ice climb in the video is north of Grand Marias on the Devil Track River. There is no wayside or trail so the climb can only be accessed by hiking on the river in the canyon. It is one of the coolest canyons on the North Shore in my opinion too cuz most of the canyon walls are towering above 200'!

The second half of the trip was spent south of Grand Marias by the Cascade river. Most of the photos of the raging water and open ice are the Cascade River.

Do we need to organize a hang at the Michigan Ice Fest this year?! It's coming up quick at the end of the month. World class climbers guest speaking and i think the whole weekend is around $45.00 including all gear rentals. http://www.michiganicefest.com/

Nice video! I wish we had those conditions out here. How are you liking the BD viper ice tools? I own the BD Venoms and kinda suffered though my ice climbing course with them. Lol.

Cool video. Way out of my league! Coil, head north, I've seen some info about ice climbing in BC.

THIS is GENIUS. I would be interested if there was a few others that liked the idea as well.

I use BD reactors and my friend has the vipers. I personally would not buy the vipers since I prefer drytooling and mixed climbing more than ice. But for pure ice climbing the swing doesn't get any better. I've climbed on vipers, fusions, nomics, and reactors. The vipers were my favorite for pure iceclimbing.

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

Not if you are doing it correctly - even on overhangs the legs should do some of the work.

'All arms' climbing is a common beginner problem.

Even so, I usually found that cold hands were a problem from the gripping and hanging. It's a lot more tiring on lead when you have to place protection. On steep ground I always used wrist 'loops', BTW - huge difference in energy conservation.

OP: Nice video - thanks! (I'm glad there were no helmet cams when I climbed - I was probably much clumsier than I imagined! )
