Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I have seen that video before. I had forgotten all about it. Would have been way better than the tape, for sure.
Thank you
That is the goal, Olddog. If we get weather like we have the past 3 years, it will be a good test for it. See you there!

Real nice write up hangnyak...keep it coming on the pic and description
Great post & instructions, hangnyak! As with 95% of us here our first attempts are where we learn what to do different next time or the "little tips/tricks" such as what Gargoyle suggested that make a difference in the end. Great job!
Will do. Thank you
Very true. It's funny that I've made stuff sacks, RL organizers, a tarp, hammock and now this top quilt and still learning my machine. I went back into my manual for my machine last night and re-read it. There are things that I could have done throughout these projects that would have made life easier, had I paid more attention to instructions. It was one of those "duh" moments for me!

I finally finished it! I tried Fronkey's method of stuffing down. That didn't work quite as well as he made it look. After the first baffle, I gave that up and switched to the vaccum method.

That worked much better. Doing it was way easier than I thought. I was expecting down everywhere. You get the occasional floater, but it was no big deal. I suggest you find something to drive the down out of the vaccum tube with. I started out just blowing it out, but I almost burst a few veins in my head doing that. I just used a broom handle to push it out and gave it a good blow to make sure it was all in the chamber. Lastly I sewed up the side with a hem and then installed the Omni tape for the foot box. Final weight of the quilt with the stuff sack is 17.5oz. I'm thrilled with the way it came out and I just shaved 2lbs. 4oz. off my pack weight! Here are a few pics of it finished.

Really great job on the quilt. I've found that stuffing the quilt by hand requires larger space between the baffle walls. And yes Donkey makes it look a LOT easier than it really is.
