I like the idea of hanging it on the hammock ridge line. I too have had issues with squirrels rooting through my bag.
I do the same sometimes, and I like that the pack blocks wind and precipitation from my foot end.

I hang mine from my suspension on the head end of my hammock. It helps to keep the head end low as well.

Being new to this I had wondered if I was doing the right thing with hanging my pack from the suspension straps. By the replies so far it seems like others are hanging off of their suspension as well. I attach it with a small carabiner.

I'll usually carry and extra trash compactor bag and at night I stuff my pack inside of the extra bag and just place it on the ground with the open end of the bag tucked underneath.

I've yet to have any unwanted critters get into my pack. I've also hung it off a tree as well and really like the convenience of not having to bend over to get things in and out.

I hang my pack from the hammock suspension line on either the head or foot end. I have two 2QZQ peak bags attached to the hammock ridge line at the ends of the hammock where I can store clothing and other items I may want without having to get out of the hammock.

I hang mine on a tree with the straps or will hang it from a Tree limb with some rope and a carabiner if I think there are chances of critters stealing anything

In fair weather I hang it from my MSH, since my toggles are lightweight biners anyway, but in poor weather I put it on the ground below me, wrapped up in my pack cover. I had to find a second use for that pack cover somehow.

I normally have a folding stool and just place the pack on the stool. It's off the ground and away from critters.
