Tarp Damage from Tie outs; ever experienced it?

I was curious about any damage any of you may have experienced because of your tarp suspension or from the movement of trees you're tied to.

I've hung in some pretty windy weather on trees that moved in the wind; I've typically used a CRL with prusik knots securing the tarp to the CRL. My prusiks have never held tight enought that it would damage my tarp; instead, they'd slip before that happened and then the full force of swaying trees would be born by the CRL.

I'm going to be trying a new tarp suspension using a tie out on each end of the tarp and was just wondering. It's not like I'm tying off to 2" trees that sway a foot or more but I was just wondering.

I've been hooked up to some pretty good size trees that swayed pretty good under strong winds.

So I was curious if any of you'd ever experienced damage related to how you had your tarp rigged?

I have had a tarp that sustained damage to the tie out area of the ridgeline, but I never thought that it might be due to trees moving. I chalked it up to bad sewing. Sent it back and the maker fixed it.

Never seen any damage to a trap from ridge lines or trees moving. I suppose if you had the tarp extremely tight and one tree moved drastically and the other did not that there is a chance but I don't think that the type of ridge line would make any difference.

All things considered in most cases I think there are things that can work to absorb that sort of movement. A stake pulling out of the ground....the type of line used for ridge line and or guy lines stretching (not all do but some cases that might be a factor)....both trees moving in the breeze to similar degrees...the trees actually pulling together slightly with the weight of the person in the hammock (hey could be, if they move that much in the breeze then a person in the hammock would probably move them together reducing the tightness on the tarp.....can you really pull the lines sooooo tight that there is absolutely zero slack.

Just throwing some thoughts out there.
