Where to hang backpack

Hello I'm new to the page and was wondering what yalls thoughts were on hanging your back pack under your tarp? Do you put it on your hammock suspension or on your ridge line for your tarp or neither? just curious been hanging mine on a tree but would like to get it in out of the weather when those surprise showers show up in the night

I usually put it on the ground beneath my hammock with the rain cover on. I sometimes hang it on the tree but again with the rain cover on.

In the hammy if i'm not in it. Clipped to the suspention if I am.

I either attach it to the tree where the head of my hammock is or I use a small "Gear Hammock" that I hang beneath my hammock. My brother attaches the too handle of the bag to the main hammocks suspension and runs a small line to the other end so the bag bag is strung up just onder his hammock.

I like your brother's idea. I've been in the process of trying to work that out myself....usually, my pack ends up on the ground next to me, but attaching it to the suspension system is something I'm going to try in the spring.

Thanks for the question because I have been thinking about protecting my backpack from theft at night in parks, beach areas, and hostels in Ecuador. I am thinking about taking a BIAS 12' partially because I might have room to rest the pack on the hammock at the foot end, attached to the hammock suspension with a short cord. I will probably need to also attach it with a cord to the SRL, but not necessarily load bearing. I have been meaning to mess with it, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I may find out in five minutes that this is a stupid idea.

Welcome to the forums JTEW! Thanks for posting this question. Being a new hammocker myself, I am most interested in the ideas folks have.

When I want it protected from the weather, I just attach it with a carabiner to the suspension next to the hammock. If I'm not worried about weather, I hang it where the tree trap is.
