I'm hoping the hike that area in the spring. Would be nice to do some morel hunting.
dc backpackers just posted a trip there for April 11. Hmmmmm I didn't know there were morels there. But makes sense, since there are plenty of Liriodendron tulipfera (Tulip poplars) which morels are associated with. I've never any luck with morels...

actually someone did fall off the log on the way out, but they were a ways behind my group. Maybe Uphill saw it?..

A lady fell in up to her waist. What a bummer. Thankfully the temps had warmed to near 40* at that point, and she had a nice uphill climb to warm her.

Seneca Creek, Spruce Knob, WV January 3 Backpacking Trip

Yea, there was one victim to the creek toward the end of our departure. She made the mistake of trying to walk out across the ice along side the downed tree, and in she went.

She got out of the water, and went back to the camp fire to change and warm back up before another attempt to cross the creek. It did warm up to the mid 40s before dropping back down quickly as the next storm system moved into the area. It was wild watching the clouds close in across the ridge lines and valleys toward us as we hiked back to the cars.

Cursed rain, I wanted to get back out and hang this weekend.
