For basic rope look at solid braid polyester sash/utility cord. Cheap and easy to find. From there you can go lighter and more expensive to your hearts content. ;-)

Any suggestions on where/what type of ridge line to get? Can I just use a basic rope?

Here's what I did with zingit spliced into continuous loops and Dutch bling. For the tie outs I used zingit spliced into continuous loops then prusik knotted to niteize line. This allows me to adjust the tarp from inside and keeps the lines off the ground (a little more tiddy). What can I say....OCD.

The thing that looks like a hook is a Dutch hook http://dutchwaregear.com/dutch-hooks.html and the other thing the line is wrapped around is the Tarp Flyz http://dutchwaregear.com/flyz.html. The yellow line is Zingit http://dutchwaregear.com/25-feet-of-zing-it.html and the continuous loops I spoke of are basically a length of the zingit that has been spliced in order to form a single loop without any knots. I use amsteel. Mostly because I had a bunch of it, but it holds knots well and I like the strength and versatility of it. Little bulkier than zingit though

I think you meant to say CDO. It's the same thing as OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order...as they should be.
