This is a good idea...any pictures?

I used one between two trees that were too far apart and one was too small so I anchored to the base of the smaller tree. My 1st setup, learned a lot here since then.

Would 2x2 pressure treated work for this? Have a eye bolt run thru the center, then 2 boom stakes to anchor it?

I went through this decision a couple years ago and found that anything with a anchor point and stakes into the ground eventually pulled out (OK at first but with a soaking rain it would loosen up quickly).
I've been using this method for a year - but I used a hinged 2X2 tri-pod on one end and a chain link fence top pole ($11) as the ridge pole. (see Turtle Dog stand for construction method).

NO, i have never seen 2-2's with good grain. i would use 2-4's, scrap steel pipe or large bamboo.

I use a couple 4x6 posts. You just need one pole, so sink it 3' deep with no concrete, pack it well and put a birdhouse on top, maybe grow a vine on it. You can dig it out later.

If the boom stakes were large enough probably..., I've never used them. I'm sure an auger anchor like those used for large dogs would work if you have good soil to anchor it to.

I would think you could use 2x2s for an undetermined period of time, you may lengthen that period if you use a cord at the midpoint of the 2x2s to help bolster their weight bearing strength. I would recommend whipping a section with a loop to secure that cordage as opposed to drilling or notching the 2x2, though drilling a hole just barely large enough to pass a 550 paracord thru should be fine. You could whip (very tight wraps) a larger section to possibly help the wood fibers from splitting under load. If you use the 2x2s skip the eye bolt and whip the 2x2s together.

As for the eye bolt, I wouldn't think that would be the best way to go unless you're talking one with machine threads. With machine threaded bolt you can use 2 nuts locked against each other and a couple of large fender washers between the 2x4s (NOT 2x2s) with the nuts tightened just enough to allow the 2x4's to scissor without binding. The machine threads on bolt will hold the 2x4's far better than the coarse threads of a wood screw. You can either loop your suspension/guys around the wood or thru the eye.

Good luck, you may consider a tri-pod out of 2x2s which would be stronger and easier to stabilize with the anchors. I may try that with bamboo!

Semi-removable post idea: Dig a 4' deep hole, and stain a a 10' long, 6x6 with three, or four coats of deck stain, put it in the hole, put two rings in it, and you can buy a decorative cap for it at Lowes, Home Depot, etc... Then, when you want to remove it, dig the dirt up from around it, and violla!
